Around 15 people involved in disturbance on Weymouth seafront

A teenager has been arrested after a disturbance involving up to 15 people in Weymouth on Saturday night.

The incident happened around The Esplanade and the beach.

Police say after help from the public and use of the town's CCTV system a 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting an emergency worker.

He has since been released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said:

"Members of public enjoying the lovely evening will have seen a number of police resources on The Esplanade whilst we dealt with this incident. Thank you to the large majority of people who have enjoyed the weekend and our town as we would hope."
