Armed police arrest man wielding knife and hammer in Weymouth

It's thought the man assaulted two people.

Large numbers of armed police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife and hammer in Weymouth this morning.

It was reported two people were assaulted by the man. He was believed to be inside a property on Howard Close at around 7:35am, with nobody else inside the property.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"Officers attended the scene and engaged with the man to resolve the incident safely.

"At around 10.45am the man was arrested on suspicion of assault, making threats to kill and affray and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries."

It's not thought the victims sustained any serious injuries. The arrested man and victims were known to each other.
