You can now count the days while looking at pictures of our local four legged fury animals, all while raising money for charity.

Dog Friendly.Social have created their first ever annual calendar.

Each month is represented by their Weymouth & Portland group members four-legged besties.

50% of the 2022 calendar's proceeds are going to the charity P.A.W.S.

Linda Stevenson from groups explains why they chose it:

"One of our members works for them and she explained how they helped someone who was homeless with a vet bill and how they support local pet owners with advice.

"I got a call from someone concerned about Steve, a homeless guy and his dog Hades, who needed urgent vet care, as his dog was attacked by a larger dog. But, Steve couldn't fund the cost.

"Medivet Weymouth saw Steve and Hades immediately and Steve was able to stay with the dog throughout the consultation, we paid the bill in full using our Weymouth (Dog) charity account."

WHO ARE DOG FRIENDLY.SOCIAL?

The group started in 2018 and was created to tackle the concerns of the increasing dog restrictions on Weymouth beach.

Since then Dog Friendly.Social came up with a sticker scheme to bridge the gap between local businesses owners and dog owners.

They recognise that dog owners struggle to find places that are canine friendly, especially if they are away on holiday or moving to a new town.

Now, businesses who are dog friendly have a sticker on show to welcome those with a four legged friend.

The sticker scheme is proving popular as over 150 businesses in 15 towns and cities are now on board with it.

BECOME AN AMBASSADOR

Dog Friendly.Social are looking for ambassadors to join the team in other areas of the country.

If you're interested in starting a group in your town or city get in touch with the team.
