82-year-old man rescued after falling into Radipole Lake

He got caught in the reeds

A 82-year-old man has been rescued from Radipole Lake in Weymouth.

The incident happened at around 6.15pm last night. (19 January)

The elderly man fell after getting off his mobility scooter and got caught in the reeds.

Luckily he was spotted by a passing motorist who called the emergency services.

He was rescued by Wyke Coastguard CRT.

Their spokesman said:

"Team members extricated the casualty to a nearby jetty and made him comfortable. He was kept warm and checked over before being handed into the care of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

"Thanks to Weymouth & Portland Police for their assistance too."
