Fourth arrest after knifepoint robberies in Weymouth

Police are also investigating a series of burglaries.

Detectives investigating two knifepoint robberies at shops in Weymouth and reported burglaries have arrested a fourth person.

Investigations remain ongoing into reported robberies at the Hidden Gem Kebab takeaway shop in Littlemoor Shopping Centre at 6.53am on Sunday (8 November) and the Co-op store in Preston Road at 9.20am the same day.

Detectives from Weymouth CID are also investigating reported break-ins at Hair Moda in Marsh Road, Castle Vets and Dorset Vehicle Rentals in Dorchester Road, as well as an attempted break-in at Chalbury Food and Wine at Chalbury Corner in Preston and a robbery at McColl's at Littlemoor Shopping Centre - all of which occurred in the early hours of Friday 6 November 2020.

'Arrests'

A 52-year-old man from Weymouth has now been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

A 21-year-old local man arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery, a 25-year-old Weymouth man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery and a 30-year-old Weymouth woman arrested for assisting an offender have all been released under investigation while investigations continue.
