Woman has path blocked by man on bike on Dorset coastal path

Police say he also made 'inappropriate comments' during the incident at Hengistbury Head

Police are investigating a suspicious incident on the coast path at Hengistbury Head.

Dorset Police have just released details about the incident that happened at around 1.45pm on Wednesday 8 February.

A male cyclist blocked the path of a woman – aged in her 20s – who was walking along a footpath in Hengistbury Head.

It is reported that he made repeated inappropriate comments toward the woman, before she ran away from the area. He did not make any physical contact with the victim.

Description

The man is described as white, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, less than six feet tall and of average build with brown or grey short hair.

He was clean shaven and wearing dark blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down the legs and a black bike helmet.

The bike he was riding is described as a bright blue mountain bike.

Police Appeal

Police Constable Matt Ayliffe, of Dorset Police, said: “I am carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident and would ask the man to come forward so we can take his account.

“I would also urge anyone with information about the incident, or who has seen a man matching the description given in the area, to please get in touch.”
