Woman hit with spanner during Weymouth robbery

Two men and a woman were involved at the Westham Bridge underpass

A woman's been hit in the chest and arm with a spanner during a robbery in Weymouth.

The victim, and a man she was with, were verbally threatened by a man in the underpass from Westham Bridge under Westwey Road at around 2.10am on Sunday (28th July).

Cash was taken from the woman's handbag, before a second man pushed her and a woman, carrying the spanner, assaulted her inflicting minor injuries.

The victims carried out walking through the subway towards the Abbotsbury Road steps, when the female suspect pushed the victims to the floor and made verbal threats.

One of male offenders is described as:

  • Slim build
  • Aged in his 60s
  • Long, scruffy dark-coloured hair
  • Dark beard
  • Wearing a dirty hooded top
  • Baggy trousers
  • Carrying a green sleeping bag
  • Blue and black chequered blanket

The female offender's described as:

  • Slim build
  • Curly brown hair
  • Wearing a khaki green jacket
  • Navy blue sweatshirt
  • Dark-coloured jeans

Detective Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset County CID, said:

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify those responsible for this robbery and assault, and I would like to hear from any witnesses who were in the area and may have seen what happened.

“I would also urge motorists who were driving in the area and have dashcam fitted, as well as residents in the vicinity with home CCTV systems, to please review their footage from around the time of the incident to see if they have captured anything that might assist our investigation.”
