Wimborne care home likely to close
Permission's been given to turn the building back into a family home
A Wimborne care home looks likely to close and the building be returned to a family home.
Planning permission's been given by Dorset Council to make the change to the use of Stoneleigh House on Rowlands Hill.
Designs also included plans to reduce the number of parking spaces and turning some of them into a garden.
The site, which was built in the 1860s, has been a care home since the mid 1970s.
It's believed to be no longer commercially viable, with the current owner and manager wanting to retire.
The home has one full time member of staff, and 14 part time employees, providing care for up to 12 people.
Its latest Care Quality Commission report, in November 2022, saw the home rated as 'good' in all areas.
