Weymouth man jailed for sexual offence and assault
55 year old David Charles Owens attacked his partner at his home
A Weymouth man's been given a five year prison sentence for a sexual offence and assault against his former partner.
David Charles Owens, who's 55, had been found guilty of sexual assault by penetration, assault occasioning ABH and breaching a non-molestation order following an earlier trial.
He's now been sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court.
What happened?
The incident happened in January 2022, at the defendant's home.
He sexually assaulted his then partner, despite his victim repeatedly telling him to stop.
As she fought to get away from him, Owens punched her in the face, and she sustained a broken nose.
Detective Constable Kate Rhodes, of Dorset County CID, said:
“Dorset Police takes sexual and violent offences of this nature extremely seriously and we will carry out detailed enquiries to ensure those responsible face justice.
“This must have been extremely difficult for the victim and I would like to thank her for her support throughout the investigation.
“I hope this case will help encourage other victims of sexual and violent offences to find the bravery to come forward and report what has happened to the police, in the knowledge that they will be fully supported."
