Weymouth's firefighters are welcoming the public in today (Sunday 22nd December), for a festive open day.

They're Christmas Cracker event is a chance to pass on safety advice for the season, and show the community what the crews do every day.

They'll be rescuing Santa from their drill tower and hosting demonstrations, with craft stalls, a grotto and refreshments on site too.

The Radipole Lane base will be open from 10.00am until 2.00pm, with donations also being taken for the Firefighter's Charity.

Station Manager Martin Charles said: “We’re really looking forward to the open day and welcoming everyone to Weymouth Fire Station.

"The open day will be a great opportunity to connect with our local community, share some of our safety knowledge, and even spread a bit of Christmas cheer! We have lots on offer including demonstrations, our very own Grotto and even an ice cream van.”

We can also arrange home fire safety visits during the open day - they provide advice about cooking and electrical safety, escape plans, and free smoke alarm checks.

Parking for the fun day will be at Conifers School next door to the station.
