Weymouth's Fantasy Island bought by Waterside Holiday Group
The business has taken over the fairground and Sunset Bar
Weymouth's Fantasy Island Fairground has been bought out by the neighbouring Waterside Holiday Group.
The acquisition also includes the Sunset Bar and Restaurant, with plans to 'breathe new life' into the site.
It's taken nearly a year for the deal to be secured, according to Waterside - adding to their portfolio alongside holiday parks at Bowleaze Cove, Chesil Beach and Osmington Mills.
They've said both Fantasy Island and the Sunset Bar will 'continue trading next year' with 'plans to revitalise the attractions while preserving its unique charm'.
CEO of Waterside Holiday Group, Dave Bennett, said:
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Fantasy Island and the Sunset Bar to the Waterside family. As a family business that has been rooted in this community for over six decades, it’s a fantastic opportunity to expand our offerings while preserving the unique charm of Fantasy Island.
"We’re committed to creating memorable experiences for families, and we look forward to breathing new life into the fairground and restaurant as we prepare for a grand reopening in March 2025.”
Fantasy Island had been owned by the Simmons family for 40 years, with Waterside thanking them for their 'dedication to this cherished local landmark'.
It's also expected the takeover will create around 15 new jobs on site.
