West Dorset MP visits Estonia on diplomatic visit
Chris Loder met with British troops serving there
West Dorset's MP Chris Loder have visited Estonia on a diplomatic visit to discuss security issues in eastern Europe.
He met with British Army troops from the Rifles Regiment who are in the country working with NATO forces.
The visit to the base on Estonia's border with Russia earlier this month (Thursday 13th October) was aimed at learning more about the military tensions in the area and how UK personnel are supporting the efforts.
Mr Loder said of the visit:
“It was really informative and a real pleasure to visit soldiers in The Rifles, the successor regiment to the Dorset regiment in Estonia on the Russian border playing a vital part with NATO protection. I also valued meeting soldiers from other regiments and of NATO allies. A great honour to be with them and to be able to thank them for their service for their nation.”
Chris Loder also met with elected members of the Estonian Parliament during his eastern European visit.
He said:
"It was great to meet with people at the Estonian Parliament to understand their experiences of life at the front line of this conflict, and to advance the discussions on how to bolster European security.”
