"Mindless and idiotic."

That is how Dorset Police have described washing up liquid being deliberately poured into the historic fountain at Poole Park.

Officers say it amounts to criminal damage not to mention being toxic to wildlife.

A spokesperson for Poole Police said:

"It is really disappointing to see the fountain in Poole Park has been targeted again by washing up liquid or a similar substance. Whilst this may seem amusing to a small number of people, it's important to note that it classes as an offence of Criminal Damage - an arrestable offence.

"The fountain us also very old and part of Poole's iconic history. But probably most crucial of all is the fact that this substance will be toxic to local wildlife that live in the park. Such behaviour is mindless and to be frank, completely idiotic."
