Washed-up seaweed removed from Weymouth beach
The Town Council say they've been 'working hard' to deal with the issue
Weymouth's golden sands have been returned to their former glory.
Large amounts of seaweed that had been washed up on the shore due to prevailing winds have been returned to the sea.
The Town Council say they've been 'working hard to keep the beach clean'.
The washed-up algae prompted some mixed views in the last few weeks |newtab) - with some visitors saying it's part of nature, while others described it as a 'smelly, fly-infested carpet' that was making children cry!
Weymouth Town Council has been bringing in contractors to clear the seaweed, pushing it further down the beach and returning it to the sea.
They've said it can then 'continue to form an important part of the food chain'.
They'll now continue to monitor the situation.
