Around 100 Western Red Cedar trees have been stolen from a village near Dorchester.

They've been dug up from a large plantation at Long Bredy in recent weeks, and taken away from the site.

Dorset Police say four rows of trees have been affected, and each of them is around a metre tall, having been growing on site for the last five years.

Officers from the Rural Crime Team also say there's been a couple of similar thefts in recent months.

Young trees have been stolen from East Lulworth and Winterbourne Kingston.

There's now advice for people who've recently planted trees to check them, and to consider using 'trail cameras' as a crime prevention measure.

If you can help with any information about the theft of the trees from Long Bredy, you're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 55230061475.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
