Three people arrested following Weymouth altercation

Three people have been arrested in Weymouth, following a reported altercation in the town centre.

Police were called to St Thomas Street, near Tesco Express, at around 9.00pm on Thursday (1st August).

Two men were alleged to have been involved in a fight and they both sustained injuries.

A 24-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, while a 32-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries but have since been discharged and taken into police custody.

An 18-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assaulting an emergency worker.

PC Harry Chaplin, of Weymouth and Portland police, said:

“We take reports of public place disorder very seriously and have launched a full investigation into this incident.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police and would also urge anyone who has captured the incident on mobile phone or other footage to please contact us.”
