A teenage boy has been assaulted in Christchurch, with police calling it a 'frightening incident'.

The 13-year-old victim was walking with a girl in the Purewell Meadows area between 3.00pm and 5.00pm on Thursday 17th November.

A group of five young people jumped out of a bush and assaulted the boy.

He suffered bruising to his eye and injuries to his ribs and back.

Two unknown male members of the public helped him away from the scene.

PC David Carmichael, of Dorset Police, said:

“This was a frightening incident for the young victim and our enquiries are continuing to identify the offenders.

“I am now in a position to appeal for two members of the public who helped the victim shortly afterwards to get in touch as they may have vital information.

“Also, I would ask anybody who may details to help further my investigation to please come forward.”
