Kitt Hill's been partially closed for more than a year

A section of the A30 through Sherborne will be fully reopened today (Thursday 6th April), after more than a year of disruption.

Kitt Hill has been partially shut since February 2022, as a lorry crashed into a wall.

There's been a long-dispute over the repair work, between the property owners, insurers, Dorset Council and other stakeholders.

Sherborne's MP Chris Loder has been helping to mediate the situation and has welcomed the reopening:

"The work is done and is now in the hands of the Council to open the road.

“I would like to praise in particular the strength and courage of the elderly property owners who got this work done after a year of unimaginable stress and personal anguish, but who are now faced with enormous Bills from the Council to pay for traffic lights. I will be supporting them every step of the way from now on and I hope the public will be too.”
