Runner assaulted by dog walker in Wimborne

Police are looking to trace a man involved, for his account

A man's been assaulted in Wimborne, while he was out running in Bytheway Field, off Leigh Road.

The victim, in his 50s, ran close to a man walking a large German Shepherd at around 3.40pm on Wednesday 15th March.

He asked the dog walker to control the animal, and he responded by becoming aggressive and pushing him in the chest.

The man is described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his late 20s
  • Around six feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Brown beard
  • Wearing a navy blue raincoat
  • Dark blue trousers
  • Baseball cap under the hood of his coat

PC Amy Davis, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are conducting enquiries into this incident and I would urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information that might assist our investigation, to please come forward.

“I would also urge the dog walker involved to do the right thing and please contact us so we can take your account.”
