Police respond to concern for welfare incident in Bournemouth
Part of Markham Road has been closed off
Police have closed off a road in Bournemouth due a concern for welfare incident.
Officers were called to Markham Road early this morning after reports of a man with a knife and windows being smashed.
Negotiations with a man at an address there are taking place.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:
"Dorset Police received a report at 6.08am on Monday 22 April 2024 raising concern for the welfare of a man at an address in Markham Road in Bournemouth.
"It is reported that windows of a property were smashed and the man was in possession of a knife.
"Officers are in attendance with the ambulance service and making efforts to engage with the man in an effort to resolve the situation safely.
"The road has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."
