Pokesdown railway station in Bournemouth is set for 'improvements and enhancements'.

The site's been allocated ÂŁ75,000 from a South Western Railway fund with the aim of boosting services and facilities for passengers and their communities.

The money's going to BCP Council towards developing designs for changes at Pokesdown.

The South Western Railway Customers and Communities Improvement Fund is putting ÂŁ1.5 million into 58 projects across the network.

Peter Williams, SWR’s Customer and Commercial Director said:

“At South Western Railway we are always looking for ways to support the local communities our network serves, and the Customer and Communities Improvement Fund plays a vital role in this by funding schemes that will provide very real benefits for people in towns and villages across our network.

“We’re delighted to help bring these projects to life and we look forward to seeing them completed and flourishing.”

Another project that's getting funding is with the Samaritans, with just over ÂŁ35,000 allocated to help raise awareness and reduce suicide rates associated with the rail network.
