Officer injured after crash involving marked police car in Bournemouth

A police officer has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a marked police car and a Ford Fiesta in Bournemouth.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday (21 September) a collision happened on Christchurch Road at the junction with Derby Road involving a Ford Fiesta and a marked police car.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed between the junctions with Knyveton Road and St Swithun’s Roundabout. The road reopened at around 9.15pm.

A police officer has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Officers were at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened or captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was closed.”
