Monkey World asks Dorset residents to chip in and help feed their apes
The rescue centre says their heating bills are currently 'astronomical'
Monkey World have reached out to Dorset residents for donations to help feed their apes this winter.
The rescue centre has taken in apes from all around the world since 1987 but told us they have come into some hardships over the past few years.
They say this is down to the Covid-19 pandemic which limited the amount of people that could visit their facility and significantly reduced their income as well as the recent cost of energy increases.
Monkey World is reportedly low on insects at the moment- which are used to feed the primates - and is therefore asking people who can spare a few pounds to send them the bugs they need.

Charlie Crowther from Monkey World said on the rescue's recent appeal: "It's a very tough time.
"We've come out of Covid where we'd had two years of reduced income through not being open to the public and reduced visitor numbers and now, we're going into a cost-of-living crisis.
"We've got 250 primates who all have inside and outside enclosures which have to be heated to a temperature that our monkeys and apes will be used to in the wild.
"Our heating bills are astronomical so while we appreciate that everyone is feeling the squeeze right now if anyone can help a little bit it is incredibly important to us and keeps us going."
