A man has been rescued after falling 15ft down an embankment on Portland coastal path.

Coastguard rescue teams found him last night in thick brambles near to Weare Close.

A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue said:

"The team were tasked by Solent Coastguard along with Wyke Coastguard CRT, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Weymouth & Portland Police.

"On scene the casualty was located and a rope rescue system rigged.

"A rope rescue technician was lowered to the casualty’s position who then had to work their way through thick brambles to free the casualty.

"Once freed the casualty was placed into a rescue sling and recovered to the top of the embankment, to be taken into the care of SWAST for assessment."
