A man has received facial injuries after being assaulted in an alleyway in West Moors.

The incident occurred at around 2pm last Wednesday (22 November) off Arnold Close leading to Station Road.

It is reported that three young people on bikes asked the victim – a man aged in his 50s – for some money.

The victim said that he did not have any and was subsequently assaulted by one of the three male cyclists. He sustained bruising to his eye and swelling to his head.

Police Sergeant Bill Nightingall, of East Dorset police, said: “This was an unprovoked assault and we are doing all we can to support the victim.

“I am conducting enquiries into what happened and would ask anyone with information about those responsible to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen three young people on bikes acting suspiciously in the area to please get in touch.”
