Man arrested after police officers assaulted in West Bay

It happened while a 19 year old was being transported to custody

A teenager's been arrested on suspicion of assaulting two police officers in West Bay.

It happened while the 19-year-old man from Bridport was being transported to custody on Tuesday evening.

He'd been detained following reports a man in his 20s had been assaulted at around 7.50pm that night in George Street.

The victim of that attack suffered a suspected broken nose.

The man arrested and has since been released on bail.

PC Jessica Burton, of the Weymouth Volume Crime Team, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this report of assault and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who may be able to assist our investigation.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured any relevant home CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.”
