Homes evacuated in Weymouth due to a fire

A fire broke out out on Walpole Street in Weymouth earlier with residents having to be evacuated.

Dorset Fire and Rescue were called at 12.54pm today (November 21) to reports of a fire affecting two properties.

Crews from Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole were mobilised and on arrival found a fire on the first floor of a residential property.

The fire had also affected the adjoining homes and additional crews were requested (Portland, Bridport, Wareham, a support unit from Dorchester and the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne).

A total of twelve breathing apparatus wearers used three hose reel jets and two main jets to extinguish the fire.
