A driver's been rescued from their car, after it plunged into the River Yeo in Sherborne.

The vehicle ended up overturned in the river after leaving the road at the junction of the A352 and West Mill Lane yesterday morning (Thursday 30th May).

Two members of the public smashed a window to help the driver out, as the car was starting to fill with water.

The person involved wasn't hurt.

The incident meant police had to call off a 'contact point' event at Sherborne's Castle Gardens to attend with other emergency services.

Officers say they'll reschedule that for June, to allow the community to speak directly to them about local concerns.
