Dorset's Wildlife Trust is aiming to raise £40,000 in just a week, to boost environmental projects on Brownsea Island.
The charity's taking part in the Big Give from Thursday (18th April), where all donations made are matched to support local causes.
The money raised for the Wild Brownsea: Connecting with Nature appeal will go into schemes that 'engage and inspire more people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities' and help protect species like the iconic red squirrels and birds living on the Island in Poole Harbour.
Every donation made between the 18th and 25th April will be matched by Big Give’s generous Champion Funders and three local businesses who have pledged their support - SISO Software, Battens Solicitors and Mad River.
Fundraising and Development Manager at Dorset Wildlife Trust, Emma Davies said:
“Nature and wellbeing can play such a huge part in people’s health, and of course, we believe nature is for everyone. But we know that not everyone has equal access to natural spaces, with factors including age, ethnicity and socio-economic status playing a role.
"That’s why we’ve joined the Big Give Green Match Fund this year to raise funds to support vital work giving more people the opportunity to get involved in conservation and experience the incredible wildlife on Brownsea.
"We’re hoping to raise £20,000 which will be matched by our funders, bringing the total to £40,000 which will make double the difference to our work. We hope everyone will give whatever they can to help us reach our target and are grateful to those who have already pledged their support.”
