Discarded needles found near primary school in Bridport
Police are urging parents to talk to their children about never picking up discarded syringes
Discarded syringes, one containing an unknown drug have been found near a school in Bridport.
Police investigated after being contacted by parents who had seen two men acting suspiciously around Pymore Road.
A spokesperson for Bridport Police said:
"On our arrival we found two homeless males in an old animal shelter and having explained the nature of the complaint and that they admitted to not having the landowner's permission to be in the shelter, they were advised to leave to prevent further calls from concern parents."
A spokesperson for Bridport Police added:
"Both PCSO's Pete and Kat from the Bridport Police Neighbourhood Policing Team returned the day after to make sure the males had moved on and on checking the shelter two hypodermic needles was found where one of syringes contained an unknown drug.
"These were immediately picked up and disposed of safely and having caught up with the males, they were both given words of advice on how to dispose of any sharps safely.
"We would strongly advise parents to make sure that they tell their children not to touch any discarded needles and to tell an adult so that arrangements can be made for them to be collected."
