Cyclist suffers life-changing injuries after crash in Weymouth

A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries after being hit by a car in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.55pm yesterday (22 January) of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta hatchback and a bicycle at Chalbury Corner.

The cyclist – a man aged in his 60s – was flown to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to injuries that are described as life changing.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “A road closure was put in place while officers investigated the collision and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience during this time.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or the movements of the black Ford or the bicycle in the moments leading up to the collision, to please come forward.

“Also, I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage from Littlemoor Road from around 4.40pm to 4.55pm on Monday 22 January 2024.”
