Community Safety officer assaulted on Weymouth Pier

A Community Safety officer's been assaulted by a teenager on Weymouth Pier.

Dorset Police are investigating an incident just before 4.00pm on Saturday 13th May, when two safety officers approached two young people.

One of the officers was pushed by a teenager, and beer was thrown over him.

The young people left the scene and police couldn't locate them following a search of the area.

The teenager involved is described as:

  • Around 17 years old
  • Five feet ten inches tall
  • Clean shaven
  • Dark curly hair that was short at the sides
  • Wearing grey shorts, over some red shorts
  • White or grey t-shirt
  • Trainers
  • Black sunglasses

PC Richard Paterson, of Weymouth police, said:

“It is unacceptable for someone to be assaulted while doing their job and we are carrying out an investigation to identify the person responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or may have captured any relevant footage, to please come forward.”
