Cyclists and climate activists will be taking to Bournemouth roads later today (Sunday 20th August) calling for more sustainable travel.

Campaigners from Extinction Rebellion (XR) want to see additional cycle lanes across the country.

They believe there are barriers to people riding bikes for travel, like people not feeling safe on the streets.

The group also claims 50% of commutes in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are less than 5 kilometres, and believe we should be cycling or using public transport instead.

XR Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is calling on local people to join their calls for improved sustainable travel, by holding their latest 'critical mass' ride.

They'll be meeting up at the Vitality Stadium in Kings Park at 11.00am and riding towards Boscombe Pier.
