Child seriously injured in crash near Dorchester

A child's been taken to hospital with serious injuries, following a single vehicle collision near Dorchester this morning (Thursday 6th April).

Dorset Police were called to Old Sherborne Road, close to Cerne Abbas, at around 10.26am today

The crash involved a white Fiat Punto involved, with road closures put in place.

A child passenger was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment for serious injuries, while another passenger was treated for minor injuries.

PC Tracey Downer, of the traffic unit, said:

“We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and our thoughts are with the family of the child who was seriously injured.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, to please make contact with us.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
