A West Dorset bridge is undergoing structural repairs, after being struck by a vehicle.

Buddens Bridge on Herrison Road in Charlton Down is having work carried out by specialists from Dorset Council.

They've described the damage as 'significant'.

While the work's ongoing, the road itself has been closed to traffic, for the safety of staff - but pedestrians can still use the area.

A signed diversion route has been set up for drivers.

A temporary bus stop has been set up on the nearby A352 for local passengers.

It's expected the work will take no longer than two weeks, but it weather permitting.
