"Milestone" flights from Bournemouth to Venice start today
Trips to Venice were "so successful" Bournemouth Airport will run them through to Summer
Year-round flights from Bournemouth to Venice start today (Thursday 22nd December) and will continue to depart from Bournemouth Airport twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays from now through to the summer.
Ryanair CEO, Eddie Wilson told us:
“Venice was so successful during the Winter, we’re going to run it all the way through to the summer as well.”
Passengers will be able to travel to the Italian city known for its grand canals, gondolas and postcard settings in just over two hours.
Managing director of Bournemouth Airport, Steve Gill said:
“With flights to Venice taking off from today, this is a real milestone in our long and proud history with Ryanair.”
Earlier this month, Ryanair announced that it would be basing a second aircraft at the Airport next summer and will increase its flight schedule by 30% to 120 flights a week in 2023.
In 2023, Bournemouth Airport is set to have its busiest flight schedule ever, representing a wider programme of expansion at Bournemouth Airport.
Bournemouth Airport has added Cassacone in France, Edinburgh in Scotland and of course, Venice in Italy to their calendar as well as increased frequency on some of their current flights to Faro, Alicante, Palma and Girona.
Mr Wilson said:
“Bournemouth airport has been great a partner for us, and people seem to want to have direct connections from Bournemouth and I think we’re going to grow here in the future.”
Mr Gill added:
“The airline’s recent announcement to add a second-based aircraft and increase the number of flights available is a massive vote of confidence in us.
“We’re delighted that our customers will have even more choice about where they travel to from their local airport, whether that’s for business or leisure.”
