Arrest made after man left blinded in one eye in Weymouth attack

Police investigating an attack in Weymouth where a man was blinded in one eye have made an arrest.

It was reported that between 12am and 1.30am on Saturday 6 January a man aged in his 40s was struck in the face with a glass bottle as he was walking on the Rodwell Trail, close to the basketball courts in Parr Way.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious facial injuries and sadly has lost the use of his eyesight in one eye.

Following enquiries by officers, a 29-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released under investigation as the investigation continues.
