A338 Bournemouth spur road CLOSED overnight this week
It's so litter picking and road sweeping can take place
The A338 spur road between Ashley Heath and Bournemouth will be closed overnight for four nights from tonight (Monday 31st October).
It's so the twice-yearly 'clean-up' can take place there.
Dorset Council will be cutting grass, cleaning gullys, sweeping roads and litter picking along the stretch, with BCP Council looking after the road closures and diversions.
The road will be closed southbound between 9.00pm and 6.00am tonight and tomorrow (Tuesday 1st November) and shut northbound at the same times on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd November.
All diversions will be signposted.
The work's carried out twice a year with the aim of giving drivers 'cleaner journeys' while also protecting the local environment.
Cllr Ray Bryan, Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment for Dorset Council, said:
“The closure of the road overnight helps protect our crews who will be working hard to clean up the road, so we thank all the road users in advance for their understanding.
“This twice-yearly deep-clean makes the A338 safer for drivers and helps protect the natural environment from the litter that is sadly dumped on the roadside. Not only is this rubbish dangerous and unsightly, but it can pollute the soil and ultimately water courses.”
