Around 30 firefighters have been tackling a forest fire at Parley Common Nature Reserve.

Crews from Ferndown and Verwood were called out yesterday afternoon and requested further support.

By around 7pm last night, crews were still at the scene trying dampening down any hot spots to make sure the fire was fully out.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

"Firefighters have remained in attendance at this incident overnight.

"They are currently dealing with multiple hotspots across the fire ground using hose reels.

"Further resources have been requested this morning to support this.

"We remind residents to avoid the area."

There is no information yet on how the fire started.
