Women seriously injured after being hit by car in Exeter hospital grounds

The woman aged in her 70s sustained serious head and leg injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was seriously injured in a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian within the grounds of Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Officers were notified at around 10.35am on Friday 17 October to the collision involving a black Toyota Yaris and a female pedestrian.

The woman – aged in her 70s – sustained serious head and leg injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police say her next of kin are aware.

A road closure was put in place whilst specialist roads policing officers conducted an investigation.

Officers have thanked members of the public for their patience during the disruption.
