Woman sexually assaulted on bus in Torquay

A 35-year-old man was arrested but has since been released under investigation

Police in Torquay are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted.

It happened on a Stagecoach bus on Tuesday 25 May, travelling between the town centre and Watcombe.

A man made comments and touched her inappropriately, despite her repeatedly telling him to stop.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"We are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a woman was sexually assaulted on a bus in Torquay on Tuesday 25 May.

"A woman aged in her 20s reported she was approached by a man on the number 31 Stagecoach bus travelling between Torquay town centre and Watcombe between 5.30pm and 6pm.

"He made sexual comments and touched her inappropriately despite the woman repeatedly telling him to stop.

"A 35-year-old man from Torquay was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released under investigation while we continue our enquiries.

"We are looking to speak to any passengers who were on the bus who saw what happened."
