Woman arrested after man dies in Torquay road collision

Police have arrested a woman in connection with a fatal collision in Torquay on Sunday in which a man died.

Officers arrived at the scene just after midnight following the collision on Barton Hill Road between a pedestrian and a car.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, received life-threatening injuries and died in hospital a short time later.

A Torquay woman, in her 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.

The woman has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
