Police have arrested a woman after she crashed a Peugeot into a house in Brixham with a three-year-old in the car.

It happened on Drew Street just before 6.00am this morning (Thursday 18 November).

The driver, a woman in her 30's from Torquay, and the child were both unharmed but an ambulance attended as a precaution.

She failed to give a sample at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of attempting to drive whilst under the influence of alcohol and child neglect.

She remains in police custody.

Devon and Cornwall say the house the car collided with is currently empty so no one within the property were put at risk.

The road was closed for around three hours following the incident but has since re-opened.
