Officers are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a South Molton store.

A man wearing a balaclava entered Spar Stores in Broad Street around 6.55am on Friday 11 April and demanded money.

He assaulted a member of staff and fled empty-handed after another man came into the shop.

The staff member was not injured but was left very shaken by the incident.

Police are investigating and seeking a suspect who is described as white, around 6ft tall and aged 30 to 40 years old.

He was wearing a black balaclava and baseball cap, a grey tracksuit and grey trainers with a white stripe.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the man in the area or captured him on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage. He fled down the alleyway by the shop.
