One person taken to hospital after fire in Torquay

One person has been receiving treatment in hospital for burns and smoke inhalation, after a fire in Torquay on Friday evening.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service say everyone has been accounted for.

At its height, 12 fire engines were battling the blaze on Windsor Road.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were first called to the scene at 3.27pm on Friday 18 June.

Firefighters asked people to avoid the area, and urged locals to keep windows closed because of smoke

Windsor Road was closed in both directions, with heavy traffic caused by the fire, at the junction of Cary Park Road.

Bronshill Road, Cary Park Road and Hatfield Road were also all closed.
