Bosses are now contacting those with appointments for early next month to see if they can be brought forward to this month.

It follows a recent internal NHS letter warning about a dip in supply of vaccine - although NHS bosses in Devon have not confirmed the reason for the decision.

When it opened towards the end of January bosses said it could vaccinate up to 2,500 people a day.

An NHS spokesperson today confirmed: "If you already have an appointment over the coming weeks, whether for your first or second dose, this remains in place and it’s really important that you attend it as planned.

"We are contacting a small number of people who are booked to have their vaccinations at Westpoint vaccination centre between 1-11 April to bring their appointments forward to March if possible.

"Please continue to attend any booked appointments in April unless you hear from us.”
