Max Woosey from Braunton started camping our during the first lockdown and has since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the North Devon Hospice and been given a British Empire Medal.

This weekend the youngster is encouraging others to follow suit and join his second 'Big Camp Out' to raise money for good causes.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Last year, hundreds of children from around the world joined Max to celebrate his first anniversary of camping out by having their own campout.

"This year, with a little help from celebrity pals such as Carol Vorderman, Max is holding a second Big Camp Out!

"Find your perfect camping spot, whether that’s in your living room in an amazing den made of cushions or in the garden in a tent of your own, and join the fun on the 26th March 2022.

"Your support to raise funds for a charity of your choice is making a difference to people’s lives every day."

Max started sleeping in his garden in a tent during the first lockdown and since had celebrity support from Bear Grylls, Jonny Wilkinson and Harry Kane.

Max explained how it started, saying: "I am raising money for the North Devon Hospice because they looked after our friend and enabled him to pass peacefully at home with those closest to him which was his final wish.

"I have been camping out since 29th March 2020. My friend Rick gave me his tent before he died and made me promise to have an adventure so that’s what I’m doing."
