This weekend's Torbay Spring Triathlon and relay events will go ahead, after travellers left the site.

The group had parked up last Tuesday, which led to the velopark at Clennon Valley Leisure Centre being closed as a precaution.

Torbay Council was going through its usual process to remove the travellers, and was due to go to court today, before the group moved on.

The council's been given a share of £10 million, along with other authorities from Government, to find a permanent site for travellers in the area or refurbish existing ones.

Leader Steve Darling says a traveller space is needed in the bay - following a number of illegal encampments in recent years - but says as a small unitary authority with little land it's hard to identify the right location.
