Torbay's MP has announced that he is leaving his Government role under the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

Kevin Foster was a transport minister under Liz Truss, a role which has now been passed onto Mark Harper.

His full letter reads: "Prime Minister. I write following our phone call earlier and whilst disappointing to not be carrying on in a post I enjoyed, it is right you are able to bring a new team into Government as you take this nation forward.

"I know my good friend Mark Harper will be an excellent Secretary of State for Transport and will take forward and positive agenda for our railways.

"As I reflected on during our call, we all must pull together as a team to deliver, whatever role we are playing in it. Our nation simply cannot afford us to be disunited. I now look forward to focussing on my role as the MP for South Devon's beautiful bay and continuing to be their advocate in the House of Commons.

"As Prime Minister your success will be our nation's success. I will be rooting for you!!"
