Suspected ordnance in Teignmouth declared SAFE

Some suspected ordnance found in the sand at Teignmouth has now been declared safe.

The discovery led to evacuations of the pier, nearby cafés and properties earlier (Friday 23rd May)- but a police cordon has now been lifted.

The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended to assess the item and removed it safely.

Devon and Cornwall Police have said:

"Thank you to the local community for your patience and support while we safely managed this incident today."
